オリンピック後半でりくりゅうペアがテレビを賑わしています。

それとはまったく関係ありませんが般若も終盤を迎えつつあります。

こう彫が深い顔だとちょっとくらい彫り過ぎても殆どと言ってもいいくらい

目立ちません。彫刻刀の歯の向くまま動かしていると自然とそのような

形になるというか。不思議なもんです。

Even if you carve a little too much, 

it's almost unnoticeable with such deep facial features.

Letting the carving knife guide your hand will naturally lead to that shape.

It's mysterious.

裏面は、大きな穴を彫った後、オデコと口廻りそれぞれに小さな穴を

一つず彫ります。といった感じかな。

When caraving the back side. After carving a large hole, 

then you carve a small hole each on the forehead and around the mouth.

I guess it's something like that.

最後に目鼻口の穴と紐を通す穴と角の穴合計9個の穴を開けます。

結構あるものですね。

Finally, nine holes are made in total: for the eyes, nose, and mouth, 

for threading a string, and for the horns.

There are quite a few.

これで終わりではありません。もうひと仕事あります。

まだ角を彫らなければなりません。

このあたりで指先が最高潮に疲れるので休み休み彫ります。
